Task Force Status: The Louisiana State Recognition Task Force was originally launched in June 2014. The task force was then reformed and reinvigorated in 2016. Issues addressed by the task force since then include restrictions to music therapists working in inpatient mental health, barriers to access for families seeking services through the Medicaid Children’s Choice Waiver, and other issues impacting client access to services within the state. The State Task Force has gathered information on the state of the profession within the state and launched initiatives to establish contact with legislators in order to work towards recognition of the profession within the state.
